Currently Accepting Students!
Purple Door Music Academy is currently accepting new students for private instruction both in-person and online in voice and piano to begin study this fall!
In our first lesson, teachers assess the goals of each student and then develop a plan to achieve those goals and address vocal issues and habits for each singer and kinesthetic issues experienced by pianists. Instruction is available in musical theatre, pop styles, classical voice, and choral singing and we welcome new students in all voice styles; piano students study the classical canon but are also provided with the opportunity to learn to play from chord charts and experiment with pop piano. The emphasis of each lesson is on proper vocal or piano technique and music education.
All singers and piano players need to learn to read music as part of their vocal development and at Purple Door Music, we emphasize the skills required to do so in lessons. Lessons are always encouraging and aimed at developing confidence in each student in their own ability. This may involve a discussion of text, emotional connection to music, the use of breath, addressing issues of muscular tension, physical habits while singing, mouth position, vocal tone, hand position and any additional topics that may come up in the lesson.
Many students choose to pursue Royal Conservatory of Music exams. This is an excellent introduction to learning the art of singing or playing the piano and it provides a number of benchmarks by which students can measure their own achievement and development.
We are a small studio, located in a residential area. Our building has been equipped with an air filtration system which includes a HEPA filter and UV-C light and the air in the house is exchanged every 30 minutes. In addition, each teaching space has been equipped with an air purifier with a HEPA filter and UV-C light as well as a plexiglass shield placed between the student and teacher. There are a limited number of people allowed into the studio on a daily basis.
Above all, we value students who are interested in learning and excited about music!
