Small Group Summer Singing!Purple Door Music is announcing small group summer singing classes! We're excited to offer the opportunity to bring students together to sing in groups of up to 10 people, outdoors. Classes will run for four weeks beginning the week of July 5. Small groups are available for the following ages
Singing LessonsLearning to sing is learning to express yourself! Every voice can learn to sing and getting help from a professionally trained voice teacher keeps your voice healthy and happy for life!
Lessons are available for all levels from beginning to advanced and ages from school age to adult. Many students choose to pursue exams with the Royal Conservatory of Music. This is an excellent introduction to learning the art of singing and it provides a number of benchmarks by which students can measure their own achievement and development. Some students may be interested in enhancing their experience singing in a choir, some are preparing to audition for post-secondary programs, many want to learn how to maintain healthy vocal production as they age, and still others wish to experience the health benefits of singing. Any student with any goal is welcome. Piano LessonsLearning to play the piano helps students with reading comprehension, counting and math skills, encourages creativity, and strengthens hand muscles and hand-eye coordination. It requires discipline, concentration, and patience, boosts self-esteem, reduces stress and anxiety and most importantly, teaches a life-long skill that can provide years of enjoyment.
Piano lessons are vital to the development of a well-rounded child, mentally and emotionally, but kids aren't the only beneficiaries of piano lessons - all ages can reap the benefits of playing the piano! Prevent arthritis, improve brain processing, maintain your hearing and prevent memory loss. And have fun to boot!!! Music Theory LessonsLessons in music theory are an excellent supplement to voice and piano study. Sing in a choir? Take some music theory lessons and improve your sight reading! Play in a concert band? Take some music theory lessons and improve your understanding of how music works on the page. Music theory teaches us the building blocks of music and allows the student to have a more in-depth understanding of how the music we play and sing works.
Group Singing LessonsDesigned for enthusiastic music makers between the ages of 4 and 10, small group lessons provide an introduction to pitch matching, development of a musical vocabulary, solo song opportunities and a connection to other students who love to sing! An ideal introduction to voice lessons in a fun and nurturing environment.
Sessions are broken into eight week sessions - October/November, January/February, March/April. Students can participate in both semesters or just one. This program has been suspended due to current restrictions in place because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Musical Theatre and Acting ClassLearn how to dance, sing and act! Be a triple threat! Practice your audition skills and learn how to bring life and energy to the music you sing and the monologues you perform. Work with professional actor and director, Garry Williams and learn how to perfect your performance on stage and off! Students enrolled in the musical theatre class will have the opportunity to showcase their work in a recital for family and friends if they wish
